Cantwell Flag down FCC Approval of Seattle Petition

S’s Federal Communications Commission's conditional approval for deployment of interoperable, wireless broadband network got passed and created a stir of happiness.

There will be a wireless network establishment in coordination between FCC's Emergency Response Interoperability Center (ERIC) and wireless broadband providers. It will make sure all the networks that are part of the coordination will be nationally compatible and fully interoperable. The network will operate in 700 MHz public safety broadband spectrum and power advanced 4-G networks under development by commercial providers.

This move will make Seattle a safe country by enabling those in public safety to use broadband communications for protecting life, health and property of residents. Without interoperability emergency responses become difficult and hence the government has planned to use dedicated federal resources to build up a nationwide broadband network. This will help them in sharing time sensitive information and also meet the technical requirements. The approval of the plan was not easy for the Seattle government as all the required guidelines and technicalities were to be met as per Public Safety Spectrum Trust (PSST). It holds the national license for the public safety broadband spectrum.

This is the first step taken towards providing regional broadband public safety network. Once Seattle executes it completely other places like King, Pierce, Snohomish County will also follow it. Also continuous research and development process will be carried out for constant improvement.

BT broadband Packages on offers. BT total broadband offers complete broadband solutions with 20 Mb download speed, BT home hub and Free Wi-Fi.

Once national technical standards are established, the Seattle public safety network can be built out over a few years. Seattle intends to work with other communities in King, Pierce, Snohomish County in the planning and designing of the public safety network. There is interest in extending the Seattle network, once built, to additional communities in order to develop a regional broadband public safety network.

New Google fiber optic broadband projects has a lot of participants

Google’s highly adventitious high speed fibre optic broadband project is in testing phase and a lot of communities are opting to be a part of this move by Google and Urbana is amongst one of them. The announcement was made by The Urbana City Council which said in a meeting on Monday, March 15, 2010 that the city will be a part of the Google Fiber Broadband Project.

Though the Council is not sure whether it will spend the grant money from the Federal Government or not. Anyway, the program is federally funded and it seeks to connect important institutions that are required for the development of the community as a whole and some 4600 homes in low-income neighborhood and provide them with high speed internet access, provided they wish to be part of the program and utilize the service properly.

And even if the council decides not to use the money funded by the centre, it is highly likely that Google wouldn’t require additional funds as it may link/associate its Fiber Optic broadband project to provide high speed internet services to Champaign-Urbana community.

BT broadband Packages on offers. BT total broadband offers complete broadband solutions with 20 Mb download speed, BT home hub and Free Wi-Fi.

Google is accepting applications for its highly adventitious high speed fiber optic broadband services from economically and culturally diverse communities till March 26, 2010. In case of Urbana community, getting all the information as desired by Google could be a little time consuming but the council is trying its best to speed up the entire process.

Broadband is getting speedier

As the technology is gaining its pace in today’s world, the demands of the users are getting higher and higher. People always want better than what they already have. Keeping all this in mind the mobile broadband companies are also making sure they give their customers the best possible services.

People who are using mobile broadband services of SingTel and StarHub will be happy to know that both the companies are going to launch their latest network which will provide super fast internet speed by the end of this year.

Both the companies made their announcements separately that they will be launching a 42 mbps mobile broadband network service which is twice as fast as the current speeds of 21 mbps that the companies are offering.

BT Home Broadband - Fast BT home broadband internet connection with up to 20Mb download speeds. Award Winning BT Broadband & complete UK broadband packages.

The costs of these broadband services are not available yet, but SingTel’s executive vice president for consumer announced that the connection won’t be charged much and would be very affordable for the mass user base. By saying this he added that “it won’t be a rich man’s toy”. There are a few hurdles in launching these products thus they will be launched only by the end of this year.

StarHub in a Process to increase Mobile Broadband Speeds

More than fast internet in the computer people nowadays needs speedy broadband facilities in their mobile phones. There are many companies which are offering excellent deals and packages for mobile broadband, but we have to make sure that we choose the one which is the fastest.

A good year for US Broadband

The year that went by, the year 2009, if for nothing else, than would be remembered for the commendable growth and success it brought in the broadband and high speed internet connectivity sector in the country and also within its sub-sectors. Here are the statistics: the residential broadband speed in the country increased by almost 28%, and the percentage increase in the speed of cable broadband subscribers was almost double when compared against the percentage increase in the speed of the fibre optic high speed broadband connection.

The above estimates were released by In-Stat, after it conducted a consumer survey in the country as regards their browsing habits, mode of connection, broadband access technology, the service provider, the speed received etc.. The various technologies for broadband access available in the market today are cable modem, DSL, and FTTH. Among these FTTH, i.e. Fibre-to-the-home technology is the latest and the most effective. It uses the optic fibre technology, that is the strands of glass are used for transmission of signal instead of conventional copper wires. This leads to an increase in the transmission speed and enhances the overall experience of internet browsing and downloading.

Further, the report also states that on an average, the downstream speed of a typical residential broadband connection in US is about 7.12 megabits per second, which is decent enough to say that the country has a good infrastructure of broadband capabilities. Moreover, around 25% of the survey respondents also said that they have an access to wireless broadband connection on their mobile, in addition to the regular cable broadband connection.
